My binary brother Claude didn’t quite get the hole My binary brother Claude didn’t quite get the hole spacing correct for this 355 template, but it’s close enough (over) that I shouldn’t have to worry about wire lengths. Just soldering properly and fishing this nightmare into the guitar when I’m done 🤦‍♂️😭😅

But the boy and his friends say they “have a band”…and what’s a band without drums? So now they can practice at our house also, and I can half-learn another instrument. Eh, we’re all only young once 😅

I have another broken ES-355 with the pickup assembly in it, but I’m still considering whether I should take it out or not. It’s a matter of do I want to fish the electronics once (I.e put new ones in here, leave pickups installed there) or twice (re-use the electronics, but then install them again in both guitars) But for now, I’m enjoying the sparkles and color-shifting 🥳😍😎🤘
Turned out just as I hoped! There was no chance t Turned out just as I hoped! There was no chance that the paint was going to feather in, so choosing a similar but contrasting paint seemed like the right choice. The “stinger” makes it all look intentional, and only thing left is the clear 😎
It’s pretty hard to show what this color-shift pai It’s pretty hard to show what this color-shift paint looks like…tried to keep my feet and guitar in the same place and just move the camera. It doesn’t match the other paint, but it’s cool enough looking to not have to! 😎🤘🐠
When many people think of 3D printing, they think When many people think of 3D printing, they think it’s just for wasteful kids trinkets that they play with for 10 minutes and throw away. But I love 3D printing for the problems it solves. In this case, leaving a 9V battery in a guitar when you don’t need the pickup will eventually lead to a leaking, crusty battery terminal. So I printed a fake 9V battery, which keeps the terminals from getting all gross AND keeps the wires from flapping around when playing unamplified 🥳
With color-shifting paint, didn’t think I’d be abl With color-shifting paint, didn’t think I’d be able to just blend the paint on both sides, so making a gigantic “stinger” (triangle) instead. Bought some color shift paint that won’t match, but is still fun, but it needs black underneath for maximum effect. Good thing is, black really highlights that I need some more fill before moving on
